Indian Cricket eclipses a 9 year old life ……..

When I set up this thread , “The safety ..Jinxed” , I genuinely felt that there may not be many stories that it could generate . However , what you are about to read would probably convince you otherwise …………
Friday, March 31, 2006 (Faridabad)

This was the day , when India played England on the Faridabad turf . The match turned out great , India won to clinch a 2-0 lead in the one day international series , but that’s what happened under the T.V camera focus . However , there also was another scene in the glorious tale , a Lathi-charge by our very own Polizei , that probably almost snuffed an innocent 9 year old life . The extract to follow is what I got from the NDTV web portal –

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haryana police lathicharged a crowd outside the Nahar Singh Stadium in Faridabad where India played their second ODI against England on Friday. India's four-wicket win over England is being overshadowed by critical injuries to a nine-year-old girl Vidhi. The young girl and her mother were seriously hurt when they tried to escape a Haryana police lathicharge. The police say they had no choice after gatecrashers tried to force their way into the match against England. The irony is that Vidhi and her mother had valid tickets. Now Vidhi is in the intensive care unit of a Faridabad hospital. Her mother is in the same hospital with a broken collarbone. "We were standing near the gates. The police refused to open the gates or even let the two ladies through," said an eyewitness. "We had tickets, we were not being allowed in, people without tickets got in somehow. The police were letting their own relatives in, but not valid ticket holders," said another. Police face criticism After the Gurgaon violence and the brutal beating of Honda workers, the Haryana police's image has already taken a beating. Once again, the Chief Minister defended the use of force, claiming most people trying to get in didn't have valid tickets. "At gate number 8, there were some 6,000-7,000 people who were trying to gatecrash. But in that crowd, one lady and her child got trapped. "To save them and push the crowd back, the police had to resort to a mild lathicharge," said Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana. Just before the game began, both teams observed a minute's silence before the game began in memory of former Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal. Little did they know that they should also be praying for the well being of a little girl who lies critically injured in hospital.

I agree , that the police force cannot be held accountable to what happened , However it does raise an eyebrow on the basic mindset of the people of our country . On one hand , we have people shouting that India fails to progress OR India would never make it on the globabl map , but if you delve deeper into the realities , we can clearly see that we are the creator’s of our own miseries . It sounds so plain and clear – If you have a ticket for the match , you very well step in to the stadium and enjoy it . However if you don’t , there’s no question as to why you should even try to get near the arena ! Probably , if this could be understood so easily , what happened could’ve been totally prevented . People would argue , or simply ward off saying that it was just one LIFE that is at stake , but that very life probably is the apple of her parent’s eyes . What I want to putforth here , is that its because of our own selve’s that our Safety is Jinxed . If we consciously try to improve individually , inculcate a basic sense of discipline , Not only that such incidents would be a history , but also India would progress faster . And yes , we would also be able to enjoy quality CRICKET !  Jai Hind !

The Safety Jinxed ..... re-iterated !

Jessica Lall , an aspiring model , a budding actress …………… but in the end , a deposit of useless human mass ! Weird , Right? A gun wielding maniac appears from nowhere asks for a drink …the bar tender refuses as the bar is closed . Just a finger press ….. a simple force displacement …. A sound ……and silence ! That was just what happened to Jessica Lall . Within seconds , she was dead . The case opened up in the police registers …. The police probably started on with the correct legal procedures , but then with burdening political pressures and heavy bribe around the corner …the registers closed down as swiftly as they had opened up ! About a decade later , as we witness a huge media led agitation for Jessica Lall , a few questions mushroom in the infinite passages of my mind ……

In a democracy that we are in ….Are we safe ? Does humanity still prevail ? Do we still be rest assured that the Police will be there in dangerous yet helpless times ? Hmm…. All these now seem queries without any obvious answers ! How else do you account for the fact that a murderer can roam on the streets without anyone questioning him just because he carries the genes of some random politician ! Indeed , its quite a pity . On the other hand , we have someone who went on a hunting expedition , killed a deer and now ended up with an year behind the bars ! Ha ! So to interpret it in terms of Indian Law , we could say that “If a human life were equated with that of a 4 legged deer , Yes , we would hold the murderer guilty (quite an irony ,right ?? ) “

Witnesses turned hostile …..A hundred odd people … those who actually witnessed the execution were bought off . Maybe not all of them …. Then what happened to the remainder in the deal ?Well , as they say …Fear lives in the eyes of the beholder . ! I guess , it was fear that prevented them from coming out from the dark and vouching for the betterment of humanity ! Whatever it was .. Ha , we duly appreciate the purchasing power that’s surely on an exponential increase …. Period !

Jessica Lall … that’s a name that now would remain a part of history . A piece of history , which probably could have written glorious chapters , a piece which would make the immediate generations more aware of what is WRONG and what is RIGHT .. Probably , at this juncture all we could do is support those who are fighting to win justice for this departed soul , maybe not for her, but for humanity which must prevail …for the justice that MUST be done … Last but not the least , may jessica’s soul Rest In Peace !

---------------------------------------------------------

Its a regular weekday morning .... A hot piping cuppa of Tea and........

Scene I : A boy loves a girl . He wishes to marry her , but the girl has other plans .. She isn't intrested . This leaves the boy infuriated . The same day , in the afternoon he visits the girl's place and rapes her . CUT !

Scene II : A group of students (afew guys and a girl) are enjoying near an esteemed University Gate . The cops arrive and try cordoning off the area .. For no reason , they take the girl away . Next day the poor girl is dead ! And if that wasn't enough , the culprit never was a cop . CUT !

Scene III : A 14 year old rapes his cousin sister , kills her and dumps her in the drains .. The only 'twist' here , Well , the girl is a 4 year old small kid. CUT !

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well ,

These seem like scenes right from our Bolly-masala flicks ... I wish they were , but sadly they aren't . Every morning we welcome the day with these stories uh...err, I mean Realities ! It is quite of a bizarre to understand the nephrological structure of the people involved in the henious crime in all the three cases i mentioned above .. Is it just a case of never-ending carnal desires or is it a case of some dissatisfied souls or is it just because their neurons are carrying high-voltage electric impulses for all wrong reasons !?!? ... But then do you feel that a 14 year old is in so much distress that he has an unattended desire ?? Huh.....,Spare me !

All the incidents show how vulnerable the fairer-sex is to those who shamelessly violate their private boundaries and do what should not be done ? If this is the case today , then the world would be a place filled with a majority of sex-starved maniacs in the near future .

The first thing you feel like doing when you hear such things is to get a knife and put an end to all the miseries ..... ! Alas , but that simply isn't in your hands ... The best thing i believe which could be done is to give all the children a right upbringing in a mentally and an environmentally sound environment to prevent the next-generation to resort to such unsociable means .. The other thing for those who already did the crime , I guess 'death penalty' or a 'life term' are the only options .....!

My thoughts here were from no personal experience or neither was I a witness to such an activity .. It all stemmed up from the same source ... the regular week day morning., the wonderful day .... with a cuppa of hot piping Tea in a hand and the apathy of the society in the other ..................
